Gregory R. Peterson
Mr. Peterson's 34 years of experience has spanned the commercial, institutional, aviation, education, healthcare, religious, residential, retail, and transit markets.Mr. Peterson began his internship while in college, working summers with Probart Gowland and Johanson starting in 1969. His duties were primarily production drawings, specifications, and design in the K-12 school market. Following initial architectural registration in 1974, he joined CSHQA Architects, a 40 member architectural firm, in Boise Idaho practicing in multiple markets. Mr. Peterson became an Associate in 1976 and by 1983 was one of five Principal owners. During his twelve years at CSHQA he served as a Project Principal, and held Director positions for architectural design, interior design, marketing and human resources.
In 1987, he joined The Hillier Group, a 300 member firm in Princeton New Jersey, as an Associate, where he managed a studio of twenty-five architects, before locating to the Washington DC area to open a new Hillier Group office. During his six years with Hillier in Princeton, he served as a Studio Director and Project Manager, with responsibilities for marketing, client management, design and production. In 1993/4 Mr. Peterson brought The Hillier Group to Washington, DC. Through partnering with Mr. Bill Reed, one of the primary creators of the now established LEED Certification Program, Mr. Peterson established a viable market presence, which remains today.
In 1995, Mr. Peterson moved to Baker & Associates, a unit of the Michael Baker Corporation in Pittsburgh, as the Director of Architecture. In this role he was responsible for managing architectural staff, growing Baker's architectural presence in the market, marketing, client management, and project quality control. In 1998 he was asked to serve as the Market Leader for Baker's eastern regional buildings unit in the commercial and higher education market segments. In this role he was responsible for establishing market pursuit strategies, evaluating client and project opportunities, and business development oversight. His duties encompassed both design and design-build opportunities. In 2001 he was asked to begin a new initiative for the buildings unit in planning and asset management.
In October 2003, Mr. Peterson and Mr. Havekotte established IDG, Inc.
