Mr. Peterson led the Baker team in association with WTW, for programming and design to expand and combine the existing student and sports centers to form a new University Center complex as a focal point at the circulation crossroads of the campus. The University Center includes a fitness center; space for retail and student organizations; social interaction spaces for food; cyber café; game room; major events and meeting rooms; information center; administrative offices; bookstore; large, multi-purpose, and high-tech meeting rooms; lounge and locker spaces; pool gallery; gymnasium; auxiliary gym; public spaces; ticket/information center; weight rooms; racquetball courts, aerobics room; equipment room; physiology lab; training room; and classrooms. Estimated construction cost of this two-phased project is $38,000,000 (2001).
